No, as long as you pick the right colour.

Most compression tops have a seam down each side. Put something fitted over the top and you can see the line through it. Ours has no side seams, so there's no line.

Colour does the rest. Black under dark tops. White under white and pale shirts — a black vest will show through a white shirt, and no amount of clever knitting changes that.

White if you wear white or pale shirts. It disappears under them. Black doesn't.

Black for everything else — navy, grey, dark t-shirts, jumpers.

If you wear both, get one of each. Two is £25 each anyway.

It should feel firm and even. More like a tight hug than a belt done up a notch too far.

Snug is right. If it actually hurts, you've gone a size too small — take the next size up.

The firmest part is the panel across your middle. That's what flattens your stomach and waist.

Higher up it's flat knit with no padding, so your chest looks flat too.

Most men buy it for one and then notice the other.

It's a base layer. It gets worn about as often as a t-shirt does, so one is never really enough — you end up washing it constantly or not wearing it.
